Accounting & Payroll Manager
TMC Shared Services has an accounting opportunity in its Cascade, MI office where centralized administrative and accounting services are provided to the Companys operating units located outside the State of Michigan. TMC has a very successful 35 year track record with $80 million plus in annual revenues, and has consistently been a leading performer among its peers in every market it serves.
The position requires performing accounting work of some difficulty and maintaining a complete set of accounts and fiscal records for the capture and summarization of financial transactions. Certain aspects of the Companys accounting are deceptively complex and success in the position requires knowledge of accounting theory, principles and procedures, and the application of that knowledge within a well-defined standard system used by the operating units.This is a very hands-on position responsible for all daily accounting and payroll related functions, including month-end closings for all entities and the preparation of financial and statistical reports for management and other external stakeholders.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Accounting Processes and Systems
Adhere to the accounting policies, practices, standards and controls of the Company and oversee the maintenance of all books and records recording assets, liabilities, ownership investments and revenue and expense transactions.
Resolve accounting issues as they arise in the daily processing of transactions.
Reconcile all subsidiary ledgers to general ledger control balances monthly. In some cases, maintain spreadsheets or other auxiliary sub-ledgers to supplement standard accounting software capabilities.
Recommend and implement changes to continuously improve systems and the Companys financial performance.
Cash Management, Receivables, Inventory, Payables & Regulatory Compliance
Oversee and monitor preparation of daily bank deposits compiled and reconciled from accounting reports and point of sale media for all methods of payment.
Monitor and manage daily bank reporting and cash positions.
Supervise the management of cash by accelerating receipts and timing disbursements to take full advantage of attractive vendor payment terms and discounts.
Monitor, control and insure the timely collection of accounts receivable.
Manage all aspects of inventory accounting, including valuation, internal controls and reporting procedures.
Comply with all taxing authority requirements, make timely deposits of required taxes and file all tax returns as required.
Payroll Processing
Coordinate with local operating unit employees the compilation of payroll information (hours, commissions, bonuses, rate changes, garnishments, etc.) needed to process bi-weekly payrolls.
Summarize payroll data and process bi-weekly payrolls for each location using external payroll service software.
Monitor and maintain all payroll tax filings made by outside payroll services to insure proper compliance, and resolve any discrepancies as needed.
Maintain employee payroll files and keep pay plans up to date.
Prepare special payroll and/or head count analyses as needed by management.
Auditing, Reporting & Financial Analysis
Identify, investigate and correct errors. Audit and resolve any anomalies encountered in daily financial transactions as recorded by others, and insure the accuracy of daily transfers of transactions from operating to accounting modules.
Manage month-end close process and timing. Prepare and review monthly trial balances, general ledger detail postings, financial statements and other financial reports and statistics. Distribute reviewed financial reports on a timely basis to management together with narrative comments to assist in understanding important results and trends.
Prepare special financial analyses as needed by management.
Submit monthly financial and statistical data for preparation of the Companys dashboard reporting.
Assist with coordination and managementof year-end reviews and act as anon-site contact with outside CPAs.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Establish departmental work schedule, balancing the workloads of all employees.
Establish job assignments for all Accounting Department personnel within their skill levels.
Participate in setting policies and procedures for the Accounting Department.

Qualifications & Job Requirements
4-yeardegree with a major in accounting is required.
5 years minimum experience including at least 2 years of experience as an Accounting Manager for a medium size company in a multiple entity environment.
Superior verbal and written communication skills.
Advanced proficiency with accounting software programs.
Advanced proficiency in the use of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
Ability to communicate effectively to resolve problems with other employees, suppliers, and governmental agencies.
Experience with acquisition accounting and post-acquisition integration is a plus.
Physical Demands
