Job Description
The Pharmacy Manager is responsible for patient safety, customer service, operational efficiency, quality improvement, financial outcomes, human resource management, clinical outcomes, and physician relations. Responsible for performance improvement, customer service, effective teamwork, financial outcomes, and performance metrics. Manages day-to-day operations and relationships and identifies daily and weekly needs of customers (stakeholders). Maintains responsibility and accountability by working together as a pharmacy management team to assure staff have access to management 24 hours per day, for emergencies and major problems. Provides leadership for staff and others to assure quality patient care by effectively managing change, team building, mentoring, and coaching of staff to foster an environment of innovation and empowerment. Accountable for all management responsibilities for staff including, but not limited to hiring, retention, coaching, training, developing, disciplining, and terminating staff. Accountable for staffs performance against organizations standards for patient care and/or customer service. Accountable for units operations performance against best practices, Ascension dashboard requirements, process improvement metrics, external data reporting requirements, and reimbursement standards. Assures established policies, procedures, and standards are implements, monitored, and evaluated. Assures compliance with successful outcomes as prescribed by all State, Federal, and regulatory agencies. Responsible for ongoing interface and frequent communication with physicians, patients, families, visitors, staff, and management team. Works closely with other departments to assist with processes that affect patient safety, clinical outcomes, and patient experience. Completes all duties assigned by the Director.
Job Requirements
1) B.S. of Pharm D degree in Pharmacy. 2) M.S. in hospital pharmacy, MBA, or other management related advanced degree preferred. 3) Must possess current Michigan licensure and a controlled substance license as a Registered Pharmacist. 4) Three years hospital pharmacy experience required. Previous hospital management experience preferred. 5) Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Experience with automated packagers, dispensing cabinets and carousels preferred.
