Job Description
MAIN JOB PURPOSE
Performs a variety of engineering I quality studies and analysis to implement plans and direct activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for products. Establishes quality procedures and standards and coordinates training. Improve and maintain customer satisfaction by interfacing with customer and production facilities to improve product quality.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES- INCLUDES, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO, THE FOLLOWING
- Establishes supplier contact through visitations, telephone calls, e-mails and other means available, to obtain customer/ supplier concerns and issues, and dissemination of concerns to appropriate departments and facilities.
- Functions as Customer/ supplier Representative, ensuring that customer requirements are addressed (e.g. selection of special characteristics, setting quality objectives and related timing, corrective and preventive actions, product design and development).
- Designs and develops fmms and instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data.
- Responsible for performing reviews/audits to determine conformance to specifications by analysis of accept/reject decisions based on regular production test and inspection routines, and validation of specifications.
- Verifies parts with Comparator, Scope, Calipers, Mics, Test Stations, Plug Gages, Indicators, etci per prints/ processes.
- Creates and maintains inspection write-ups from prints and product catalogs for production/assembly shop.
- Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material, and assesses cost and responsibility.
- Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data, concerning materials, product, or process quality and reliability.
- Develops and implements minimum requirements for incoming material.
- Provide current certifications, as required, on all gages, measuring equipment, digital readouts, and machinery.
- Provide sott procedures, gages, and instructions, when necessary, to aid production personnel.
- Provide and assist production personnel with written procedures for rework/ repair of all outgoing products and materials.
- Participation in corrective and preventive actions where appropriate.
- Support company continuous improvement activities.
- Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation.
- Maintains records of supplier concerns and corrective actions.
Job Requirements
PREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS
Education (one of the following is essential)
- A minimum of two years attendance at a college or university plus 3 years relevant experience;
- 4-Year Degree in Engineering and or Quality (BSME, BSEE) preferred;
- Graduate Design Engineer with internal training completed;
- Must be able to self-manage daily activities as well as follow through on assigned projects in timely manner.
Relevant experience in all of the following:
- Problem solving skills and experience
- Involvement in team work internally and with the customer
- Leading of problem solving teams
- Work experience under a similar type of high volume and pressure environment like automotive.
