Systems Engineer at Dearborn

Job Description

Position Description:

. Shift is 12:00-8:30pm M-F.

. Support 1000+ Linux/AIX servers in Data Center 24x7

. Applying patches, installing software, managing file systems, monitoring performance

. Troubleshooting alerts from monitoring system for system error conditions (system down, disk full, CPU busy, memory full etc.)

. Servicing tickets submitted by developers and application support teams

Job Requirements

 

 

Skills Required:

. Shift is 12:00-8:30pm M-F.

. Troubleshooting of at least 2 Unix operating systems (AIX, Linux preferred)

. Analyzing performance issues

. Supporting a network of at least 100 systems 24x7

. Data Center experience (change control; ticketing systems; coordinating with other support groups)

. SAN experience (SVC, MetroMirror, EMC BCV, SRDF; Powerpath; DMP)

. Experience defining technical standards for an organization . customer interface experience (managing expectations; negotiating compromise solutions)

. Experience managing the escalation of cross-functional problems with multiple vendors

. Leadership experience (of a team or of an implementation project)

. Experience with at least 2 Volume Managers (Veritas, HP LVM, IBM LVM, SUSE LVM, Sun SDS)

. Automating tasks using a scripting language (ksh, perl etc)

.  Requires to be on-call (24x7) one week in four

 

Education Required:

. B.S. Information Systems, Computer Science or equivalent work experience in the requested field
