Job Description
Purpose/Summary
Serve as the primary liaison between Akebono and the (assigned) customer(s) to provide warranty analysis and support with the goals of safety, customer satisfaction, production reliability, and cost savings.
Essential Duties/Responsibilities includes the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Interface with OEMs concerning warranty performance. Assist in data mining, manipulation, and trend investigation through the use of multiple OEM data sources (GART, AWS, WIS/EWT, etc).Create, maintain, distribute, and explain, warranty cost data reports. Data is obtained from customer portals. Interaction with Akebono accounting department required. Compiles and maintain warranty corrective action reports of customers in a professional format that is easily understandable and communicable.
- Monitor warranty performance to customer goals. Verify the effectiveness of implemented corrective actions and product improvements, as well as identify potential warranty concerns resulting from improvements.
- Help drive improvement activities to reduce /eliminate field issues. Communicate warranty data effectively to each engineering commodity lead for root cause and resolution of warranty issues. Facilitate warranty concern review with cross functional teams, including engineering, quality, and manufacturing plants. Ensures corrective action is read across to similar products at plant level and or at the design level.
- Work with OEMs to coordinate warranty reduction projects to reduce field issues. Participate within conference calls with senior management and present the warranty status, trends, corrective actions, risks, etc. Meets and reviews warranty information, trends, and corrective actions with customers on a regular basis.
- Provide warranty lab support for new and existing programs. Perform general and specific warranty tests on field returns, as needed. Teardown analysis of products and report preparation of findings. Present findings to internal and external customers as needed
Job Requirements
Education and/or Experience (minimum required for the position)
Bachelors Degree or technical degree plus minimum of five years in quality, manufacturing, and /or product development are required. Experience in foundation brake, friction, or wheel end product is preferred. Production/manufacturing engineering experiences in a plant environment a plus.
Essential Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Expertise in and the ability to extract and utilize needed warranty data from the respective customer portals.
- Ability to effectively prepare and present warranty reports as needed internally and with the customers.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference.
- Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
- Strong teamwork and facilitation skills and the ability to interface with all levels of personnel. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in
- Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to summarize key issues.
- Ability to read blue prints.
- Self-motivated and action oriented requiring minimal supervision.
- General knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control methods for the products produced at the Akebono plants.
- Ability to travel to customer and Akebono facilities, as needed.
