Job Description

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Linux & Solaris System Administrator to work in Troy, MI on a long-term contract supporting our Fortune25 financial industry client. Only W2 candidates will be considered for this position.


Position Summary:

Linux and Solaris System Administrator to help manage 1000+ servers running Redhat Enterprise Linux 5.x to 6.x and Solaris 8-10 operating systems for business applications.

Responsibilities:

Server builds, patching and server support
Install software, apply patches and upgrades, manage file systems, monitor performance.
System failure analysis and recovery; ensuring the consistency and integrity of file systems.
Hardware/software configuration and management
Technical support and general troubleshooting
Support 1000+ servers in a 24x7 environment.
Software install and upgrade efforts of varying size and complexity.
Be available via Microsoft communicator and via phone during working hours. Some after hours and on-call responsibilities may be required.

Required Skills &

Job Requirements

Extensive knowledge of RedHat Linux 5.x to 6.x and Solaris 8-10 operating systems.
Strong Unix build experience
Strong experience in a clustered environment utilizing VCS, Redhat clusters, Sun cluster, or Oracle RAC
Strong experience with system management tools, logical file systems, and client/server environments.
Experience in a large enterprise environment, working in a remote work environment, part of a virtual team.
Shell scripting
Strong troubleshooting skills and experience with remote server management tools
Demonstrated initiative, customer orientation and team work competencies
SAN, basic knowledge and troubleshooting
Familiar with IBM, Client and Client server hardware (including blade and blade management)
TCP/IP knowledge
Hardware troubleshooting
Ability to manage projects and vendors
