Maintenance Area Superintendent

This position is located in Marysville, MI, candidates must be willing to commute to Marysville or re-locate at their own expense" 

Position Summary: This position will be responsible for the administration and coordination of one or more projects or tasks. Primary will be the maintenance oversight of gear mfg. and/or assembly. Working under direction of the Maintenance Mgr., directing the maintenance supervisors and control engineers in the daily tasks. Organizing and assigning tasks, projects, planning for maintenance to be done. 

 

Role Expectations:

 

This position will be expected to ensure that all plant maintenance personnel comply with all safety,TS-16949 & ISO -14001 policies and practices. That all of the equipment in the assigned area runs at or above the targeted OEE. That there is sufficient support to carry this out; utilizing supervisors, tradesmen, spare parts, and additional external support. It may also include implementing programs and processes.

 

 

Position Responsibilities:

 

  • Actively participate as a strategic member of the ZF management team with a customer focused approach on safety, quality, delivery, cost and morale to ensure continuous improvement in all facets of the business.
  • Develop a positive union relationship and meet contractual requirements.
  • Provide general oversight to the maintenance supervisors in the day to day activities.
  • Ensure proper utilization of trades personnel, maintenance supervision, and internal or external additional resources/contractors.
  • Develop, implement, track and maintain in conjunction with internal and external resources appropriate safety training programs for all maintenance trades, with appropriate maintenance supervisors.
  • Insure direction to optimize assigned departments OEE and equipment availability.
  • Using root cause analysis, 5-Why process to clarify and resolve long term issues.
  • Develop and improve TPM – PM procedures and work tickets program. Maintain records of planned and completed maintenance.
  • Coordinate equipment maintenance and assure availability of materials, spare parts, and other resources. Expedite and coordinate with purchasing dept. and critical repair parts, services, and materials needed to support production projects. Maintain proper inventory levels, using equipment lists, with cost controls.
  • Provide direction for required training for maintenance supervisors.
  • Schedule and track vacations periods, for supervisors, control engineers, and the maintenance trades
  • Participate in the creation and execution of safety audits and housekeeping & 5 S.
  • Will assist in new projects. Involved in machine runoffs at suppliers, installation at plant, and runoffs at plant to sign off.
  • Follow and support group directives and standards for all requirements TS -16949 & ISO -14001.
  • Improve effective day to day – shift to shift communications. Foster good team environment.
  • Plan, organize and manage weekend, holiday, and shutdown requirements including manpower, resources, and supplies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Active team member of business unit; driving to meet business unit targets.
  • S.A.P expertise in PM, MM, & ordering processes.
  • Provide support to other technical resources.
  • Oversee, document and control financial costs for equipment installation projects, equipment repair projects, spare parts inventory, spare parts repairs, with monthly distribution balances.

 Essential Skills and Experience:

 

  • B.S. in Business Mgt, Materials Science, or Chemical/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education/experience or 8 -10 yrs. Mgt. experience & project mgt. skills.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory or management experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years project management experience.
  • Strong hands on electro-mechanical skills in hydraulics, pneumatics, PLC troubleshooting/programming and electrical installation/repair.
  • Strong written and verbal command of the English language
  • Strong command of Microsoft office software- Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Strong coaching; team-building and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to travel both domestic and internationally.

 

Preferred Skills and experience:

 

  • Experience with SAP
  • Experience in the Automotive industry
  • Experience with unionized workforce or similar.
