Human Resources Assistant at Troy

JOB SUMMARY:

Civilian employees serve a vital role in supporting the Army mission.  They provide the skills that are not readily available in the military, but crucial to support military operations.  The Army integrates the talents and skills of its military and civilian members to form a Total Army.

As a result of sequestration and budget shortfalls, Army is furloughing most of its employees for some amount of time during fiscal year 2013.  An employee in this position MAY be subject to furlough.  If applicable, specific information regarding the administrative furlough will be provided to the individual selected for this position. 

About the Position: This position is located at the United States Military Entrance Processing Command, Operations Group, Operations Processing Section, Troy, Michigan.

The duties of this position include:
•Assembling and processing enlistment documents in accordance with specific service requirements to ensure mission success.
•Screen records to ensure that necessary documents are present according to the requirements of each military service.
•Informing applicants of processes and procedures
•Process entrance documents from personnel enlisting/reenlisting into the military service.
•Fingerprint applicants using automated systems.
•Apply guidance regarding the qualification and enlistment process using various regulations procedures, and guidelines.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below.  Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.
 
Experience required: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Typical examples of such work include (but are not limited to): work that involves reviewing applicant documents, preparing transportation orders, assembling applicant enlistment record packets, and maintaining records. These examples are typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service ([GS-04]).

 

You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency (knowledge, skills, abilities) in the following areas:

· Ability to Interpret Rules and Regulations

· Knowledge of the Military Entrance Requirements

· Knowledge of Automated Systems

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks may not be promoted more than 2 grades within the preceding 52 weeks.


Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify.  For this job, you may qualify if your education meets the definitions below:

1) Education alone: Education may be substituted for specialized experience with 4 years of education above high school.

2) Combination of education and specialized experience: A combination of education and specialized experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of undergraduate education in excess of 2 years by 60. Add the 2 percentages. Note: For the purpose of qualifications, 1 full year of undergraduate education is equivalent to 30 semester hours.

To receive credit for education completed outside the United States, you must show proof that the education has been submitted to a private organization that specialized in interpretation of foreign educational credentials and such education has been deemed at least equivalent to that gained in conventional U.S. education programs.

Conditions of Employment:
•Undergo blood testing on a yearly basis.
•Occasionally work prior to 0600 hours or after 1800 hours (shift work).
•Work occasional Saturdays.

HOW YOU WILL BE EVALUATED:

You will be asked a series of questions to determine your eligibility, qualification, and quality ranking for this position. If your responses to the eligibility and qualification questions result in a determination that you are not eligible or not qualified, you will receive no further consideration.
