Quality Engineer

Description: Plans and directs activities concerned with development, application, and maintenance of quality standards for industrial processes, materials, and products.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Participates actively in design and manufacturing reviews with core team, including reviewing design prints for assigning Receiving Inspection criteria, assigning critical dimensions, and addressing
    all customer, supplier, and internal issues on previous related programs.
  • Participates actively in PFMEA reviews and works with core team on RPN reduction activities. Ensures that customer and internal line concerns are reflected to the PFMEA.
  • Prepares and ensures control plans conform to customer, product, and process specifications.
  • Participates actively in the stages of Methode’s development process as well as applicable customer development processes and addresses any open issues promptly.
  • Responsible for customer PPAPs and works with core team and/or supplier to resolve any open issues.
  • Addresses Validation Testing concerns by working with core team on DV & PV concerns and following up with resolution for closure.
  • Addresses internal line concerns by reviewing line rejects and working with core team to resolve the issues promptly. Initiates product/process improvement projects using statistical analysis and
    problem-solving techniques.
  • Monitors, evaluates, reports, and works with core team to minimize Cost of Poor Quality.
  • Addresses supplier concerns by notifying the supplier about issues through Quality Concern Rejection (QCR) forms, review supplier corrective actions for closure, and visiting supplier facilities for
    recurring issues.
  • Addresses customer factory and warranty concerns through problem analysis and implementation of countermeasures, by writing corrective action reports, interacting with customers, working with
    core team to resolve issues promptly. Inputs any customer concern into the corrective action (CA) tracking database, which is reviewed regularly for closure.
  • Addresses audit by working with core team on daily audit findings and following up with resolution for closure.
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspecting, testing, and evaluating.
  • Participates actively in Process Improvement Team (PIT) and addresses any open issues promptly.
  • Leads and/or supports TS and ISO 14001 Roles, Responsibilities, and Authorities.
  • May perform other duties as assigned by manager.
 Requirements Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s degree and three years experience preferred.
  • Advanced SPC skills and ability to read blueprints. Ability to perform root cause analysis and to apply statistics to problem solving, knowledge of techniques such DOE, Global 8D and regression analysis.
  • Experience with MiniTab statistical analysis software is a plus.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both in verbal and written communication. Ability to speak Spanish is a plus.
  • Must be able to travel both domestic and internationally and with short notice.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employees must stand, sit, bend and stoop. Have use of hands to feel and examine small parts. The employee may be expected to move boxes and lift up to 20 pounds.
    Specific vision acuities include close vision.
  • May be required to travel 20-40% of the time on short notice.
